Hay Meadow Report

Hay Meadow Report

This page will be periodically updated with news and pictures. For the time being this has some pictures taken a few years ago. Visitors will appreciate the many varieties of wild flowers which will be visited by bees and butterflies.

The project has shown early promise, with flowers from many species appearing amongst the grasses. The photos below were taken this summer . At the top is a ringlet butterfly and five-spot burnet moth sharing a scabious flower.

The “hay” is cut and removed at the end of the summer; hopefully flower seeds will have dropped and will germinate next spring. We expect more and more flowers each year.
